Northern Gas and Power to Create 100 New Positions
The UK’s leading energy consultancy, Northern Gas and Power, will create a hundred new roles over the coming months. The business is taking space in its brand-new, purpose-built, 30,000 sqft Gateshead HQ development, RIGA.
Movement into the new £2m RIGA development on Gateshead Quays has already begun. As the company continues its rapid expansion, further floors are expected to be filled over the coming weeks.
GPG, parent company of Northern Gas and Power, has taken four floors of grade-A commercial property at Gateshead quayside. The new HQ, RIGA, remains close to its existing offices at Baltic Place. RIGA is the biggest commercial office project in the northeast for the past five years.
From its creation in 2013 by founder Fokhrul Islam, the business has consistently grown in headcount and customer-base. With offices at Baltimore House in 2015, the business moved a year later to the larger space at Baltic Place. The headcount for the company was just one in 2013 and grew to 40 within two years. A year later, headcount was 75, and further reached 140 by 2017. Moreover, during this period, the business was also able to set up operations in France, Texas and Malta.
Managing energy assets for over 22,000 clients, GPG contract around 30TWhs of energy. That’s enough to power the country of Ireland for a whole year. GPG employ almost 800 people from over 30 nationalities, and operate in Gateshead, Newcastle and Leeds (UK), Paris and Malta (Europe), Texas (US) and Chennai (India).
The new positions created by GPG will range from energy consultants to training and technical roles. The enhanced recruitment process at the company will help GPG attain its next level of growth. This will then see the group expand their client portfolio, currently standing at over 22,000 businesses globally.
